Are women better drivers than men? You have to wonder, given the weight of anecdotal evidence and the fact insurers seem to think so.

But if there's one area men can definitely claim an advantage it's out on the racetrack, where natural aggression and gung-ho attitude really count.

Only they don't. Not if you talk to the people at the sharp end of the trackday world - namely the instructors and organisers. Sorry chaps, but it seems feminine intuition and sensitivity can also be brought to bear on an area of driving generally held to be the last preserve of macho attitudes and testosterone-fuelled over-excitement.

H&H Press Release: Racy Ladies Relish Lapping Rockingham

H&HThe inaugural Racy Ladies track day held in conjunction with H&H Ltd on Sunday November 9th 2008 proved a great success. Two-thirds of the women who attended the Rockingham event were novices. A scenario which not only validated the concept behind Racy Ladies - that of encouraging women to participate in motorsport be it historic or modern – but also contributed to a very relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Anne - Competed in her 1958 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk III

Just wanted to say thank you for a great day yesterday.  I was a bit stunned by the instructor Mark's comments and hope that I can go into next years competition with a bit more self belief. It was great chatting to all the different people and starting with the meal in the pub made Saturday evening most enjoyable.

Many thanks

Rebecca Mealing

It was great to meet you on Sunday and be able to participate in such an exciting and rewarding experience.  People were so friendly and helpful to a novice like me.  I appreciate all the planning and organisation that went into the day.  It was thrilling to see such a wide range of cars.

Many thanks for all the hard work and an unforgettable experience which I hope to repeat in the future!

Kind regards

Rebecca Mealing

Blowing in the wind...

Blowing in the wind...For sure this was not a bad hair day, but last Sunday's heavy crosswinds and irregular showers at discomforting temperatures at UK's Rockingham circuit made photographer's life a blast and kept most onlookers and the vintage part of the Racy Ladies community in their comfy homes. Not so for more modern track traffic ranging from C-type (PUR 120) to Porsche & Maranello stuff, Nippon tuned Caterhams and the sponsor's roaring Fast Food 'Going...Going...Gone!'. But then we met Suzy ! Golden narcis of the day with her long sleek Unicorn Special. The Aston Martin saloon radiator shell was made to fit a shortened AC chassis which in turn accomodates for a SS100 3,5 litre engine and several boxes of Riley and other parts that attracted no buyers some 20 years back. All this was bolted together extremely well we found out during two swift rounds . Thank you Suzy!
